Perfume Branding Project

FOR

For is more than just a brand; it’s a conduit to a spiritual oasis.

We specialize in crafting natural perfumes, with a primary focus on Chinese agarwood. Our perfumes, imbued with the rich, mature woody, and smoky notes of agarwood, offer an immersive experience that transcends the mundane and alleviates stress and anxiety.

Logo Design

For the logo design of FOR, I designed a logotype, logo mark, lockups, and scale size to provide an overall branding guideline for FOR. The logotype uses the primary Typography, The Season, a serif typeface that perfectly sets the tone of FOR.

The Logo mark is inspired by the Chinese temple. When visiting the temple to pray, the rule is to burn three sticks of incense and bow three times. By combining the symbol of incense smoke with the element of agarwood tree, it leads to this logo mark design. It’s organic shape represents the smoothing flow of nature.

Photographic Style

By seeking a world of serenity and peace, I was inspired by 3 photographer’s work. All three photographers came from different cultural backgrounds, but I found similar peacefulness and quietness in their work.

Reflection

For this branding project, rather than rebranding existing brand, I want to create a brand that I believe is missing from the current perfume market. In the western world, perfume is often consider as glamorous and beauty, whereas in other culture there're a variety of purposes behind the use of perfume.

FOR highlights the culture of Chinese traditional fragrances and combine with people's need of relaxation. As my first brand guidline design, I experiment with many new softwares and learn different design skills, it was truly a inspiring learning experience for me. I hope you enjoy this brand as well!
